CONVERGENT BOUNDARIES

WHAT PEOPLE Wrote

A Secret Journey

Your history together brought us to many unknown lands. You left us feeling we witnessed a secret journey. Cats. Ships passing. String. Sisters. Everyone who has peopled this room. Honoring every moment together. Honoring space. Figurative and literal. Timing of join-ups. Use of room. Start > Finish. Complete.

A Miracle in Nature

"Puzzle-like configurations of two bodies coming together. One body moving another, yet not mechanic, but purely organic. Felt like watching a miracle in nature that happened once in a hundred years; like a waterfall full of glowing stars."

"It was beautiful—a cascading shifting relationship with each other and the space that wasn't quite human, in a world where there wasn't quite verticality. But y'all also managed to be firmly connected—an umbilical cord between you. Thank you for your clarity and simplicity of structure; all felt helpful in these dark days. "

CONVERGENT BOUNDARIES

as part of ESTUARY: a collection of vertical dance works
December 5-6, 2025

In geology, a Convergent Boundary is where two tectonic plates move toward each other and meet. What happens at that boundary can vary wildly: they can collide, crumple, fold, subduct, uplift, or create mountains. It’s a place of tension, pressure, transformation, and creation.

It was presented as part of Estuary, an evening of vertical dance featuring established and emerging Bay Area artists. Stemming from the estuary of artistic research come a collection of dynamic, tender, and evocative works in progress. ESTUARY features work and performances from Ciarra D'Onofrio, Faith Elder, Suzanne Gallo, Megan Lowe, Rachel Maxwell, Kriss Rulifson, Olivia Sander, Roel Seeber, and Jessica Swanson.

Megan and Roel brought back their "Mind blowing" low-flying duet, COLLIDING TOPOGRAPHIES, and continued "Pushing the form" in the next chapter, CONVERGENT BOUNDARIES.
