Megan will be teaching at miniWCCI
Intensive A: Foundations, Techniques, Scores

Full Festival: August 7-11, 2024

Wednesday-Sunday, 10am-11pm

Intensive A: August 8-11, 2024

Thursday-Sunday, 10am-12:30pm

Finnish Hall

1970 Chestnut St, Berkeley, CA 94702

Megan will be teaching a Contact Improvisation intensive with Melecio Estrella, Kristen Greco, Brenton Cheng, and Rene Alvarez. miniWCCI's intention for the year is to honor the history and lineage of Contact Improvisation, and to collectively vision future iterations of the festival. We are leaning in to themes of mutuality and collaboration, and have curated two collectively taught intensives.

Testimonies About Teaching

Empowering to Try New Things

“It’s so rare for me to see my background reflected in movement instructors. The safe container cultivated through the gentle buildup of warm-up exercises and explicitly practicing verbal cues of boundary-setting empowered me to try new things and go beyond my usual notions of what I can and can't do. I also appreciated the presence of many POC helping me feel less like an outlier.”

Wonderfully Constructed

"I’m still riding high from the experience and joy I felt being back in my body. I’m already looking forward to July’s workshop and wondering how I can get involved more and more. Thank you again for such a wonderfully constructed workshop. You’re a gem!"

Tangible Physical Support

"Megan incorporates a contact/partner counterbalance technique that feels so powerful, I still think about the people I leaned against and what that tangible physical support feels like."

Fostering Respect

"I liked how we, as a whole group, were encouraged to foster respect, appreciation, and friendliness throughout the session."

Inclusion
Nature

"Loved the inclusion nature of the class, the diverse dance experience and backgrounds of participants. Excellent teacher!"

Clear Instructions

Loved Megan's class! She gives clear instructions and allows for the group to get comfortable with each other, which is very important for contact improv. Her pacing was perfect for all levels, and I felt like everyone was invited to do what they needed."
