Megan Lowe Dances and Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center team up to present Maw Jaw, a free outdoor dance event at Portsmouth Square and Kapwa Gardens, featuring a site-specific dance film journey and live excerpts from MLD’s Tangram project. Maw Jaw rehearsals occurred outside in public spaces around San Francisco’s Chinatown—activating benches, railings, poles, stairs, and play structures—inviting passersby to witness the creative process, enhancing community engagement, sparking conversations, and inspiring interest in dance as a tool to engage with the environment/people around us. This project is in solidarity with the API community.
